Amazing Meet and Greet!

We did an amazing job on today's Meat and Greet! I think that everything came together smoothly even if not everybody showed up. It doesn't matter, the few people that did show up were impressed with us. Go Journalism! P.S We need t-shirts to look more like the newspaper staff when the paper arrives.

I agree.
Let's stick with the same t-shirts as before. Someone should get a list together of who wants one and what size. I will place the order on my credit card, and when they arrive students can pay me cash.

About This Class

This course is designed for those students who desire experience in print journalism and an in-depth production of a newspaper. Students have the unique opportunity to create and publish a student-driven newspaper. Newspaper students practice the fundamentals of journalistic writing, photojournalism, graphic design and budget management. Students will also develop their abilities to work as a team as they produce the newspaper.
Researchers have found that both college and non-college-bound students benefit from taking journalism in high school. A study of college freshmen found that journalism experience correlated with higher efficacy in a beginning English class (Collins and Bissell, 2002). Even teachers report less burnout and higher job satisfaction from advising the school newspaper or broadcast class, according to a study by Reinardy, Maksl and Filak (2009). Numerous studies by Dvorak and his associates have shown a correlation between journalism students and higher test scores on college readiness tests and in higher grades in high school classes.
